Scottish Indie-Pop quartet Model Aeroplanes unveil their new single ‘Whatever Dress Suits You Better’ set for release on 8th July as a digital download through Island Records. The band are Ben Buist, Grant Irvine, Kieran Smith and Rory Fleming-Stewart.
Fresh from the success of their acclaimed debut EP and title track ‘Something Like Heaven’, the foursome ‘unapologetically pop’ – as described by Clash – has been supported by the likes of Annie Mac and Huw Stephens at BBC Radio 1.
Inspired by early Top of The Pops and The Word TV shows, the band reveals that the visuals accompanying the single were conceived filmed and edited over the space of a weekend, “We came up with the idea within the band and then shot, directed and produced it ourselves, it really gave us the creative freedom”We wanted to show the band playing live, but not playing live, in a fun way none of the instruments were plugged in and this is all really apparent.”
Showing a more playful side, ‘Whatever Dress Suits You Better’ has proved to be one of the most popular tracks on the EP, one of those songs that evolve with a band as they develop as writers, delving into various styles and genres before crafting their own sound.
With live credentials that already include performances at T In The Park, The Great Escape and Live At Leeds, the band are pleased to announce appearances at this year’s Electric Fields and Kendal Calling in the UK, and renowned European festivals such as Indiependence in Ireland and Bergenfest in Norway.
The EP and new single offer the first taste of the foursome’s sound. And, with a string of live shows and festival dates in the pipeline for the summer they’re set to be a real force to be reckoned with.
