Rey Lenon has a trained opera voice and is highly proficient on classical piano, yet she turned to pop music to express her feelings and deal with personal experiences. Her new single MCKY is an attempt to leave behind her first love and tragic breakup. The title is a variation of the colour model CMYK used in printing as a metaphor for things getting mixed up and confusing. The chorus is bedded on interwoven vocal tracks of the words Into You that symbolize the losing of oneself in another person. The video by director Manuel Hauer picks up the colour metaphor: Rey Lenon is wrapped in coloured fabric like being trapped in thoughts and feelings she can’t escape. MCKY is an optimistic song nevertheless as it symbolizes the beginning of a healing process, the first step on the journey to self-discovery.
