Sex Swing – Idles launch Passovers remix album
SEX SWING – PASSOVER
STYPE II REMIX ALBUM
LAUNCHES WITH IDLE
“Sex Swing are back and more massive than ever” – The Quietus
Last month the mighty Sex Swing released their second album Type II on Rocket Recordings and over lockdown, the band sent the tracks to a select few fellow artists and friends. The result of their time, well spent away from the baking and Zoom calls, are now set to be released in the shape of Passovers – a remix album out on 3 July and available via https://sexswing.bandcamp.com/album/passovers
Passovers features a remix of every track from Type II – with remixes and reworkings by METZ, Jane Weaver, Brian Case (Disappears), Johnny Broke (Wayne Adams from PETBRICK),
Anji Cheung, The Keep and this, the first track to be revealed, an incredible rework by Bristol rockers IDLES.IDLES have, on many occasions, sung their love for Sex Swing after catching them live at in Bristol several years ago – and since then added the brass terrorist of Sex Swing, the formidable Colin Webster, into their ranks to join their live assault.IDLES’ Mark Bowen picked up the gauntlet for the remix challenge and has taken the first track, the ferocious single ‘The Passover’ and turned it into seven-plus-minute landscape of sonic explorations and addictive, krautrock repetitions.

Since their foundation in 2014, Sex Swing, the malevolent rogues gallery of luminaries of the UK underground have consistently proven to be capable of projecting vibrations that transcend and usurp any idea of the sum of their component parts. It is true that they’ve clocked up notable experience sparking tinnitus with everyone from Mugstar and Bonnacons Of Doom (bassist Jason Stoll) to Dethscalator (vocalist Dan Chandler and drummer Stuart Bell) and from Earth (guitarist Jodie Cox, who also introduced keyboard player Ollie Knowles to the melee) to a dizzying variety of endeavours from the paint- stripping skronk of Dead Neanderthals to the aforementioned IDLES (all via saxophonist Colin Webster).
Their latest album ‘Type II’ is more than the mere machinations of a rock band – it’s a howl of malfunction rendered terrifyingly visceral. It’s the lightning flash and unearthly roar of the primeval battle between Godzilla and Mechagodzilla that provokes awe and disquiet in the realm of fantasy, It’s the haunted clangour of the faulty air conditioning unit that lurks in the anonymous office building yet lends it eerie ambience. It’s man vs machine where discord becomes harmony, and it’s a fearsomely invigorating spectacle to behold.

RECENT PRAISE
“The new Sex Swing album wields a disorienting witchcraft, an amalgam of synthetic sound and rockist power” – The Quietus “…has a Biblical intensity to it, utterly coruscating and wildly unsettling.” – Clash“Now is the time for artists to voice the disillusionment, desolation and depression of not just a generation, but an entire society… We need bands like Sex Swing right now…” – Echoes and Dust“Order and chaos rule Type II… It takes remarkable tact to have such opposing forces play together so amicably.” – Loud & Quiet
