Robot Koch & Savannah Jo Lack Get Cinematic on Debut Collaboration

Following on from his deeply moving and intimate 2015 release ‘Hypermoment‘, LA-based producer Robot Koch returns to the electronic scene with Australian solo artist and accomplished violinist Savannah Jo Lack with the formidable, cinematic collaboration record ‘Particle Fields‘.

After relocating to Los Angeles, previously Berlin based electronic artist / producer Robot Koch teamed up with accomplished Brisbane artist / composer Savannah Jo Lack to write and record ‘Particle Fields’; an impressive concept album of full of open soundscapes, dark moments and raw emotion.
Written with vast landscapes of foreign lands and emotional worlds in mind, ‘Particle Fields‘ plays like an open-ended soundtrack for an imaginary movie, reminiscent of cinematic works like Vincent Gallo’s ‘The Brown Bunny’ or Wim Wenders’ ‘Paris, Texas’ as well as experimental acts like Sigur Ros, David Lynch and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
Bringing together vivid imagery of open fields and long drives, the multilayered concept record retains many of Koch’s much-loved hallmarks, with the delicate hand of Savannah Jo Lack driving the record into previously untouched territory; a true evolution of sound and style which delves deeper into more intimate spaces, with swathes of warm, saturated soundscapes, lush pianos and tense moments, enhanced by the addition of strings.
Far removed from the pulsing, modular visuals and deep-house inspired sets for Boiler Room Berlin that Koch was used to, and a complete three-sixty from Lack’s quiet hometown of Brisbane, ‘Particle Fields’ is a step into the unknown; the duo’s first time working together, Koch’s first foray into working with an established, classical composer and a major step outside both artists musical comfort zone.
“full of sprawling soundscapes and ambitious emotion.”
The Line of Best Fit
“The album embraces the stark and rich expressive qualities of both the classical and electronic music worlds, mashing them up to create a new lonesome landscape for the digital age”
The Playground
It is a remarkable achievement to combine electronic music and classical music at this level. The challenge is not to penetrate the music, to understand and analyze it, but rather to just let it happen.

Robot Koch is an award winning producer/composer from Berlin, currently living in LA. His unique sound of organic electronic music has been called “Wonderful and Strange – pop music from the future” (John Peel) and has been used on various TV shows and films including NBC`s “the Blacklist” and NBC`s “how to get away with murder” continuing to resonate with a growing audience worldwide. Koch has released several albums and EPs on Labels such as Bpitch Control, Project Mooncircle and toured internationally, playing shows and festivals in the US and all over Europe, Russia and Asia. As a Red Bull Music Academy alumni from back in 99 he is also the producer behind critically acclaimed band Jahcoozi (BPitch Control) and has remixed the likes of Norah Jones, Bassnectar and even Max Richter‟s Vivaldi Four Seasons for Deutsche Gramophone. Koch works as a producer and composer for both indie and major artists worldwide.

Savannah Jo Lack is an Australian violinist and composer currently based in Los Angeles. Her work as a violinist and arranger can be heard on many studio albums, as well as soundtracks and film scores. The award-winning performer bridges the gaps between technical proficiency and expressiveness. As a little girl, Savannah Jo built tree houses, grew vegetables, and rode her bike around the sprawling streets of suburban Brisbane, Australia. Sometime around the age of 4, a violin bit her. Whilst not fatal, the incident did leave her with a strange mark on her neck and a long-standing love of all things string. Fast-forward 3 decades and Savannah Jo Lack has left her own strange mark on the world. She and her violin have carved several enviable niches, none of which could completely contain them. Known to some as a violin soloist, to others as a strings arranger and session musician – and to others as a composer and improv jazz musician, Savannah is an international woman of musical mystery.
