Single / Festivals / Tour > Libertines signed Bristol tearaways The Jacques to release ‘Artful Dodger’ EP
The b$st$rd teenage love child of cockney guitar pop and just about anything that came out of New York during the early ‘00s
Louder Than War “The Jacques are a prime example of British indie music at its best, and a poke in the eye to all those twerps telling you guitar bands are dead”
Following on from the four track shock of their debut ‘Pretty DJ’ EP, memorably regarded by Clash as ‘Ray Davies at his most acerbic, Weller at his most romantic’, Bristol’s The Jacques return with a second blast of four songs and a host of festival dates throughout a summer sure to see them repeatedly on the lips of those who know that far from being dead, witty, intelligent, challenging guitar driven pop is about to have another one of those moments.
The Jacques – Artful Dodger EP

NME – “Sounds like a pre pubescent Pete Docherty fronting Echobelly”
Sabotage Times – “Two sets of brothers – aged 16-21 – sound like the band that could be the new breed. Predicted for the shortlist for the Mercury Music Prize 2015!”
Clash Magazine – “Think Ray Davies at his most acerbic, think Paul Weller at his most romantic, think four kids barely old enough to drink slating all around them. Three minutes of adolescent rage and tuneful hooks”
Louder Than War – “The Jacques are a prime example of British indie music at its best, and a poke in the eye to all those twerps telling you guitar bands are dead”
Subba Cultcha – New Artist Of The Day “Almost, almost, almost a modern era Qudrophenia”
Huey Morgan – Fun Lovin’ Criminal / BBC 6 Music – “This is Pretty DJ. You’ve never heard from them before, it’s probably the first time they have been played on the radio, but you will be hearing from them again. Great
