OLYMPIC LEGEND SIR MO FARAH CBE
HOSTS FIRST-EVER RUN EVENT AT
BST HYDE PARK OPEN HOUSE: “TO HAVE THIS RUNNING EVENT IN HYDE PARK IS AMAZING”

Tuesday 30 June
American Express Presents BST Hyde Park Open House welcomed the legendary Sir Mo Farah CBE alongside crowds of enthusiastic London runners for a high-energy 3km experience around Hyde Park. Runners of all abilities laced up to join the multiple Olympic, World and European Champion for Run With Mo!, which formed part of BST Hyde Park’s Open House midweek series of events.
The unforgettable evening kicked off with an energetic warm-up with the buzzing audience led by Mo himself, alongside URUNN’s Adam Clarke, on the festival’s iconic Great Oak stage. From there, Mo took to the pavements alongside the excited runners for an enjoyable 3 km route around the idyllic Hyde Park. Each participant who completed the run was gifted a commemorative medal to celebrate the achievement. Following the run, Mo returned to the Great Oak stage for a Q&A session hosted by presenter Nihal Arthanayake, discussing his achievements and sharing his story of resilience, drive and passion.
Speaking at the event, Mo Farah said: “This city has so many memories for me as a young boy taking part in a mini marathon, running and looking at your role model and going, one day I’d like to compete in a marathon and doing it. To have this running event in Hyde Park is amazing, so when the team asked me if I’m up for it, I was more than up for it… Let’s go!”
The four-time Olympic gold medallist opened up about his experience in running and how the sport is evolving. “What you put in is what you get out of it. I often say that to younger kids, the younger generation. You’re willing to graft, work hard, and believe in yourself, as well as willing to make mistakes, learn from them, move on, and enjoy the process – you can achieve great things,” he said. “I now look at athletics, and so many athletes are winning medals: Keely [Hodgkinson] again, incredible, and if you look back 10, 15 years ago… Has it changed? Before it was just me, and it has changed. People have realised, you know what? I can be as good as them.”
With sports fever in the air as BST Hyde Park Open House screened tennis matches on the lawn, Mo Farah opened up about who he is rooting for in this FIFA World Cup: “Come on, England! Is it coming home? It’s been too long. I hope so! Bellingham, Kane – some great players, as I said. We can’t put too much pressure on the team. Let’s enjoy the process. Let’s enjoy it, let’s keep supporting them, and you saw a lot can change. You saw it. Germany went out – who would have thought? No pressure on [England], but let’s go. Let’s go, England!”
BST Hyde Park Open House will be running until Thursday of this week, closing with All Things Orchestral, hosted by Myleene Klass and featuring special guest Alfie Boe. The event will reopen for a second week from Monday 6th July to Thursday 9th July, including PDC Presents Hyde Park Darts on Wednesday 8 July and a range of free events.
BST Hyde Park continues for another two weeks, featuring concerts from Maroon 5 (3 July), Mumford & Sons (4 July), Duran Duran (5 July), Pitbull (10 July) and Lewis Capaldi (11 July and 12 July).
