British alt-rock quartet Skunk Anansie will be continuing their world tour in 2017 in support of their sixth-studio album “Anarchytecture.” Extra shows including dates at Bristol O2 Academy on Thursday 25th May and Manchester O2 Ritz, Saturday 27 May have been announced along with an appearance at Bearded Theory Festival.
Formed in 1994, female fronted Skunk Anansie made politically charged music that tackled important social issues, forming their own unique sound amongst the Britpop and American grunge artists of the era. In the 90s, Skunk Anansie released a string of critically acclaimed albums, selling over 5 million records and powered through seven sell-out world tours, before headlining Glastonbury in 1999.
In 2001, the band went on hiatus, during which time all members pursued solo careers in music before regrouping in 2009. Following their reunion, the band set off on their ‘Greatest Hits’ tour, their first in eight years and released a further two studio albums, Wondrelustre (2010) and Black Traffic (2012).
Lead singer Skin is currently working on a number of projects alongside Skunk Anansie, including her recent performance with Andrea Bocellli, DJ set at Coachella and her continuing fashion career, having just becoming the face of Sisley S/S 2016. SISLEY official spokesperson commented. “Skin perfectly personifies the brand’s mood. A personal, provocative mix of sexy femininity and energy, an untamed touch combined with an unexpected intensity, a style that goes beyond trends, rock, sophisticated and cutting edge.”
