Taking the music business by storm the Sleaford Mods are a marmite band – you either love ‘em or hate ‘em. With the exception of Noel Gallagher most people seem to love ‘em and it’s not hard to see why.
In an age when mediocrity has pervaded new music, when the working class heroes of our yesterday’s have become establishment figures, when even austerity brings barely a whisper of protest, along come the Sleaford Mods and put a bomb under everything.
Musically it’s a very simple yet clever electronic beat that under-pins the ranting of a mad man, that’s two words as Williamson isn’t insane, he’s angry, very angry but intelligent and articulate. The A-side is taken from the ‘Divide And Exit’ album, the jewel here is the B-side ‘I’m Shit At It’ which has Williamson acapella before the music kicks in and an ending scathing poem. This is genuine working class rage. Utterly brilliant!
The bomb has well and truly exploded and the fallout from the Sleaford Mods will be immense. 10/10
