Put simply, Sneakbo is one of the most influential MCs to come out of South London in recent memory. Putting his own stamp on rap music with a hard-edged take on the genre spliced with the sound of afrobeats, Sneakbo took his sound across world as early as 2011, helping to influence the afro-swing genre currently taking over the charts. Still only 25, Sneakbo returns with a brand new project, ‘Brixton’; a 19 track collection that explores every facet of the artist’s arsenal, creating an eclectic project that solidifies his status as one of UK rap’s pioneering figures.

Opening with a testimonial on Sneakbo’s influence on the scene, ‘Intro’ provides an ode to the area that Sneakbo calls home, celebrating his notorious reputation and displaying his hunger to push his sound further. Expanding on the innovative sound that he has become synonymous with, Sneakbo sounds more urgent than ever, riding each instrumental with a flurry of styles; offering his own twist on the current afro-rap sound on ‘Back Then’, putting on for some of Brixton’s finest underground talent on ‘Fuck It’, even teaming up with UK pop artist Conor Maynard on ‘Get To Know Me’. ‘Brixton’s feature cast list is extensive – a nod to his massive influence within urban music – each adding their own contribution to the record; Not3s croons soulfully on ‘Nah’, lamenting the price of fame, Peckham and Brixton unite on ‘Active’, as UK rap legend Giggs injects ominous energy into the track, while Team Salut and Afro B paint an afrobeats-tinted tapestry on ‘Body Close’ – one of the album’s more subtle moments.

‘Brixton’ is a comprehensive chapter in the career of an artist who has helped to define a genre currently at the forefront of UK music. Featuring appearances from the likes of Yungen, Political Peak, Moelogo and more, Sneakbo has once again defined the line between crossover club classics and hard-edged lyricism, just as he has since 2011. With a headline show at London’s Village Underground (tickets available HERE) and a host of more news on the horizon, 2018 is the year that one of one of UK rap’s most revered figures steps into the spotlight to reclaim his crown as one of the genre’s pioneers.
