Solomon Grey ‘Last Century Man’ – Video / Hunger TV Feature

‘Last Century Man’ is the B side from Solomon Grey’s last Black Butter released single ‘Firechild’. Take a look at the video for ‘Last Century Man’ below, by director is Tom Lock () who made the video with old CGI footage.

Solomon Grey are Tom Kingston and Joe Wilson. After several years writing and producing together in London, Kingston and Wilson left the city behind – first for Ireland’s Atlantic coast, then for the Australian outback– spending almost three years writing, recording and producing there debut album.

Free from the distractions of everyday life, the music that resulted plays almost like a love-letter back to the city. Throughout their work Kingston and Wilson draw on the music of their childhood, but at the same time remain fiercely contemporary. With a strong nod to the1980s, Solomon Grey blur the lines between programming and live instrumentation to create a bold, layered hybrid to underpin Solomon Greys haunting vocals.

On stage, Solomon Grey are a five piece band. With a similar set up to new york heavies yeasayer, lcd soundsystem and bands like little dragon to name a few, this live show is every bit as exciting and transportive as their recorded music.

The band released their first single “Gen V” via UK indie label Black Butter Records in August 2013, quickly making the BBC Radio 6 playlist as well as Zane Lowe’s “Future Radio 1” feature. The success was followed up with a second release on Black Butter in November 2013 with “Firechild”, garnering further support from Zane Lowe and BBC Radio 1 stablemates Phil and Alice amongst others. After laying further solid groundwork with an impressive array of videos – their latest guest-starring Andre Royo from HBO series “The Wire” – Solomon Grey topped off last year by selling out two consecutive nights for their first live shows at Hackney’s White Building.
