Sophie Auster – Run Run Run

The latest single ‘Run Run Run’ from singer songwriter Sophie Auster is available now for download and is taken from her new album ‘Red Weather’ which is due for release this November. Sophie released her first album when she was 16 and it was produced in collaboration with One Ring Zero. She has drawn lyrical inspiration from English translations of French surrealist poems. The album was highly acclaimed in France and quickly found an audience throughout Europe building her a loyal following throughout the continent. Her latest work is a collaboration with Barry Reynolds who has worked with the likes of Grace Jones, Marianne Faithful, and Rufus Wainright.

The single is a folk rock song with bluesy vocals over rhythmic instrumentals. Sophie voice moves from deep longing to heart raising a cappella showing just how versatile her voice is. Her ability to portray the urgency of her words is fantastic and makes this a beautifully understated song that catches you and pulls you along into its tale of being trapped and the desperate headlong plunge for freedom. 7.5/10
