Southern / Announce details of new EP, ‘Where The Wild Are’

Southern release their new EP, ‘Where The Wild Are’ on the 14th April through Marathon Artists. Listen to the title track on soundcloud below.

Southern are Belfast-born, Liverpool-based brother and sister band Thom and Lucy Southern.  They follow the acclaim for the ‘Southern’ EP, with another instinctive collection of songs that veer from juggernaut-sized blues-kissed rock’n’roll to gorgeously opaque pop-noir.

Where the debut EP had a real folk vibe, Where The Wild Are stomps and swoops, loaded with melody and the infectious delivery of Thom’s inviting vocal. It’s leftfield pop with heart.
Oh Won’t You Go is fronted by Lucy, a beautifully sombre tune. Her vulnerable vocal, and the atmosphere it creates, recalls that of Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval or Victoria Bergsman of Swedish band The Concretes.
Four Days is a bluesy, folk-tinged stomp that recalls the pace and infection of Southern EP track, World Don’t Shine, and concludes three exciting new tracks that buzz with the frenzied fervour of expectation and anticipation.

Still in their infancy, Southern have already taken their music across the world from Nashville to Paris, Brooklyn to Seoul. Their instinctive togetherness that can be borne only from family ties is at the heart of everything the band does from songwriting to live performance, mapping out their journey, dot to dot, across the globe.

Signed to acclaimed new independent label Marathon Music (Jagwar Ma/Childhood/Courtney Barnett), and with a slew of UK shows upcoming, Southern are broadening smartly on all that early promise with this assured new release.
