Southern Shores – New World (Cascine)

Southern Shores, a duo from Toronto have obviously done a serious amount of bumming around not doing much if the sun-drenched vibes of their second EP are anything to go by.

‘New World’ contains seven tracks and there’s an ongoing sunny vibe throughout, ‘New Love’ has chilled beachy vibes with deep trance atmospherics and mystical vocals, the electronic steel drums and  filtered vocals on ‘Sankasa’ immediately transfer you to a sandier place’ and ‘Breathe is a purpose-built sunshine house anthem.

At times new worldy pan pipe vibes do veer a little to closely to Sting on tracks such as ‘Marazul’ and ‘Purple Skies’ and at times the tracks seem a little too short for what they are trying to do but that is what remix packages are for, eh? 7/10
