“Photographs” is a hybrid of fuzzy shoegaze and experimental pop. The track is all gooey reverb and dreamy vocals, making the listener feel like they’re floating on a cloud.”
Impose Magazine
“killer riffs and moody melody”
PureVolume
“Souvenir Driver inhabits a sonic world of dreamlike disconnect.”
Portland Mercury
“Their dreamy, tonal pop sounds are danceable, interesting, and complex.”
– Rip City Review
“Souvenir Driver seem to specialize in music that drifts in and out of consciousness — both yours and their own.”
A New Band A Day (written by Alex James from Blur)

Today, Portland-based shoegaze / bliss pop band, Souvenir Driver, debut new video “Sunsets.” Atwood Magazine has premiered the video, describing it as “full of warmth and bliss.” The video was directed and written by Jake Lyon, whose gaffing credits include “I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore” (Netflix) and stars Paul Cowsill (of The Cowsills). The song is from Souvenir Driver’s new LP, which is due out April 14th via High School Records. You can pre-order the new album here on Bandcamp.
The upcoming album was recorded by Tommy Dietrick (David J, Drinking Flowers) in an isolated cabin (a-la-Bon-Iver) on Mt. Hood in Oregon, the 8-track release showcases the four-piece band’s genre-bending sound that blends indie, psychedelic, dream pop, rock and shoegaze. The record was mixed and overdubbed at Trench Studios with Gregg Williams (Blitzen Trapper, Dandy Warhols, Sheryl Crow) and mastered by Timothy Stollenwerk (Grouper, Dead Moon, Crocodiles).

This new album will be the band’s fourth release and was written during a four month tour hiatus. The band took their cues from a Lou Reed quote and created this new body of work with minimal chords, while putting their focus on the melodies and moods. Themes range from human vulnerability to relationships to nature to… turtles. Yes, turtles – because of their perception and representation of strength and movement. Separating from the prior album’s vibe, this new release will have a more breezy, casual energy.
