Dear readers,My new novel, The Two Lives of Lydia Bird, is a story about love in many different forms: romantic, friendship and family. And it’s about loss too, but I hope you’ll find the sadness balanced by the lighthearted moments.I absolutely loved writing Lydia’s story and wanted to share more about where I spent my time crafting it.

We moved house a year or so ago and I struggled to find my perfect writing spot, hence getting an office installed at the bottom of the garden. I love that it’s glass-fronted so it’s always flooded with light, and I’m a bit of a magpie for colour so I’ve chosen bright, pretty things that make the space a pleasure to spend time in. I love it even more than I thought I would, it’s a really peaceful sanctuary without kids or dogs demanding my attention. I like to light a candle and crank up my Spotify playlist full of motivational songs—my ritual to get into the right frame of mind each morning. My most treasured possession in there is definitely the artwork gifted to me at Christmas by Reese’s Book Club, a constant reminder to myself to work hard.I’d love to hear your thoughts!
