““All the Time”, the second single off SWIMM’s forthcoming Beverly Hells EP, couples a gorgeous mix of sunny guitars and beachy breeziness with more pensive lyrics centered on the band’s internal workings.” – Consequence of Sound

Today, LA’s favorite Florida transplants, SWIMM, premiered their new single “All The Time” with Consequence of Sound . “All The Time” lives in an interesting place sonically where the beach meets a more ethereal, otherworldly vibe. The track, which is centered around a huge arena-ready hook, is accented by staccato, flange & delay-soaked guitars and perfectly placed auxiliary percussion.  “All The Time” is the second single from the band’s highly anticipated new EP, due out early this fall on 24west Records. You can stream the track now on the band’s Soundcloud and pre-order it on iTunes.

SWIMM “All The Time”

SWIMM, in case you’re not yet familiar, is an LA-by-way-of-Florida pysch-pop duo currently working towards the release of their sophomore EP. The band’s founding members Chris Hess and Adam Winn left the sunshine state to head out west last year in search of a different perspective for the music they create. The band released an ambient folk gem in “Beverly Hells” earlier this year and have been garnering a huge buzz both on the Internet and around their adopted home city of Los Angeles since.

While “Beverly Hells” was a tongue-in-cheek look at Los Angeles’ celebrity culture, “All The Time” is mostly about Adam and Chris. Conceptually, the track speaks to the duo’s creative partnership and the fact that, while the they can probably count on one hand the weeks they’ve spent apart over the past five years, there are some ways in which they are total opposites. Chris put it best in a quote about the track he wrote for the Consequence of Sound premiere.

All the Time is mostly about Adam and I.  He and I have been working on music together for years. I could probably count on one hand the number of weeks we’ve been apart in the last five years. We basically feel like extensions of each other at this point.  But we are total opposites in some big ways and that’s what All the Time is about.  The chorus is “I want it all the time” and “you worry all the time”.  Basically I tend to want more,  and Adam tends to worry more. It’s basically talking about how a couple people in a band can have stars in their eyes, feel as though every little decision they make could be life-changing, and that what they’re doing is super important, they are on the edge of everything…  But maybe there is a lingering thought in the back of the mind that maybe it’s nothing?
