The band were also announced this week as main support for Arctic Monkeys at their two 50,000 capacity shows at London’s Finsbury Park next May. Tickets go onsale this Friday at 10am via gigsandtours.com / ticketmaster.co.uk
After his epic elongation of ‘Why Won’t You Make Up Your Mind’, one of the deeper cuts on their debut record Innerspeaker, influential London producer, DJ and label head Erol Alkan again pulls Tame Impala apart, this time stretching at the seams and turning the acid up to eleven on ‘Be Above It’, the opening track of their acclaimed second album ‘Lonerism’.
The original ‘Be Above It’ already dabbles in techno-like repetition, albeit with mostly live loops, and Alkan takes this approach to its logical conclusion, adding those magic numbers 303 and 909 and in turn raising the roof to previously unfathomable jacking heights.
The Erol Alkan Rework of ‘Be Above It’ will come as a white-sleeved, one-sided 12” and will be limited to just 1500 copies worldwide. The track will also be available digitally.
A limited quantity of the 12” will be available a week early, on 30th Nov between 11am and 5pm via Modular’s stall at the Independent Label Market, Spitalfields’ Market, London.
