Velvet Negroni says of the remix: “I wanted it to sound like you’re at a party where the mixed drinks are $27.” Sudan adds, “Jeremy is so talented and we had so much fun on tour together. I was really excited to have him remix ‘Confessions’ for me.” . Sudan Archives’ debut album Athena was released on Stones Throw in November 2019. A unique work synthesising contemporary R&B and electronic music with beats inspired by West African music and fiddling influenced by Northeast African and Irish traditions, Athena garnered wide acclaim from Pitchfork, the New York Times, NPR, Vogue, and many more. The independent music industry body A2IM recently recognised Sudan with two nominations for their prestigious Libera Awards, for Breakthrough Artist and Best R&B Album.
