Leicester’s De Montfort Hall and Gardens is preparing itself for an almighty three days of music and entertainment. From rising female songstresses to legendary British bands, it’s set to be the biggest and best edition in the event’s history.
From Friday August 17th – Sunday August 19th Summer Sundae Weekender will welcome a plethora of outstanding artists to this stunning setting, and with well over 80 acts it’s difficult to know where to begin. Certainly Adam Ant & The Good The Mad & The Lovely Posse will be a highlight for many, as will Bill Bragg, whose show celebrates Woody Guthrie’s 100th Birthday on site this year.
In addition to this indie dons Ocean Colour Scene will play their only Midlands date of the summer at De Montford, whilst alternative UK dance heroes Death In Vegas also make a much anticipated appearance. Alongside those similarly established headliners come in the shape of the genre-splicing Asian Dub Foundation, and John Lydon’s Public Image Limited.
Fresh-faced talent is also in abundance though, with the distinct guitar hypnosis of Django Django, and Lianne La Havas’ gentile acoustic pop set to blow the crowds away. Meanwhile, we could also mention Gold Panda, Stay+, The Twilight Sad, Willy Mason, Katy B, Friends, Reverend and the Makers, Ghostpoet, Jack Beats, or Lonely Dear, but you probably get the point. That said, it’s worth pointing out all this is on top of comedy, a craft market, and dedicated children’s area.
Tickets for this year’s Summer Sundae Weekender start at £105 for an Adult Weekend Pass (£70 Young Persons 14-17, £35 Children 5-13), camping is available on either the main site or family friendly quiet area. De Montford Hall and Gardens are located 10 minutes walk from Leicester train station and the city centre, ensuring an easily accessible festival boasting all the merits or a rural setting, not to mention a staggering Georgian concert hall to boot. A truly unique spectacular then, it simply cannot be missed.
