Set to release new EP ‘The Fall Line’ on the 9th March

They will be out on headline tours throughout March & May

Sunset Sons have announced details of a new EP. The Anglo-Aussie quartet will release The Fall Line EP on March 9th on Polydor. It will coincide with their forthcoming UK tour, which will take in eight UK cities throughout the first half of March. Sunset Sons make anthemic, propulsive indie-rock and are destined to be one of the breakthrough acts of 2015. As well as featuring on the BBC Sound of 2015 shortlist they are one of MTV Brand New’s and XFM Great X-Pectations’ tips for the year and have been widely tipped elsewhere by tastemakers across the media.

The four friends – Rory, Jed, Rob and Pete – are based in the idyllic French town of Hossegor and came together through a shared love of surfing. They cut their teeth playing riotous rock’n’roll shows to a rowdy snowboarding crowd in the French Alps. “We played loads of very raucous shows up there during winter,” says Rob. “It helped us get tight.” They started out playing covers but soon they were dropped in favour of the group’s own material at the behest of a smitten crowd. The new EP offers up four examples of what their audience were so captivated by: lead track Medicine is a stomping rocker in the vein of Springsteen and Kings Of Leon, whilst Movie Scene is a sun-drenched reflection. Blondie is an energetic anthem that mixes intricate melodies and epic soundscapes and Lies is the sort of swooping ballad that people sing on the way back to their tent at festivals.  Sunset Sons make songs that evoke the landscapes where they were written: stretching beaches and glistening seas, jagged mountain ranges and endless skies.

Sunset Sons have two releases under their belts already. They self-released their debut early last year, the Le Surfing EP which was followed by the No Bad Days EP on Polydor in November. The latter gained them fans at Radio One, where they were put on the Introducing and In New Music We Trust playlists, as well as at Absolute and XFM. They are currently writing their debut album back home in Hossegor and will head to Nashville at the end of January to record with Jacquire King.
