‘ENVISION’ FEATURES CHANNY FROM POLIÇA
DEBUT UK LONDON SHOW – THIS THURSDAY AT OLD BLUE LAST, LONDON
“a record that twinkles with a smart electronic pop sheen” **** MOJO
“Supreme Cuts make a strangely alluring kind of dance music” The Guardian
Chicago production duo Mike Perry and Austin Kjeultes a.k.a. Supreme Cuts recently released the well received album Divine Ecstasy and have just shared the video for the track Envision via The Guardian. The track features the vocal talents of Channy, lead singer of Memphis Industries label mates POLIÇA.
Divine Ecstasy sees Supreme Cuts further extending their productions into the worlds of house music and footwork (both historic staples of their hometown) while experimenting with pop structures. The appreciation for off-kilter time-signatures and complex phrasing that defined their debut album, Whispers In The Dark, aren’t absent but rather harnessed and disciplined, contrasted against some of the most musically approachable compositions they’ve written to date. Studying piano and citing influences as diverse as Jeremih, Herbie Hancock, and Prince, Supreme Cuts emerge from the haze of their discography with a confident stride.
The band play their debut European shows this week:
19 Feb – Amsterdam, OT301
20 Feb – London, Old Blue Last
22 Feb – Berlin, Berghain / Kantine
23 Feb – Paris, Fireworks Festival
