Today sees the domestic release of “Ten Love Songs”, the new album from Norwegian artist Susanne Sundfør, featuring such breakout tracks as “Fade Away” and “Delirious.”

A platinum-selling pop star in her home country who rose to notoriety through frequent collaborations with M83 and Röyksopp before breaking out internationally with her critically-acclaimed 2012 album “The Silicone Veil” (ft. single “White Foxes”, which received a “Best New Music” nod from Pitchfork), Ten Love Songs sees Susanne Sundfør coming into her own in her most personal album yet.

The critically-acclaimed Norwegian artist is currently riding an international wave of praise for the release (including Five and Four star album reviews from The Guardian and Mojo, respectively), which sees Sundfør drawing on a myriad of influences (including Stanley Kubrick and Philip Glass), taking the helm of both writing and production duties for the first time on her fifth studio album

Speaking to The FourOhFive, Sundfør described her creative process for Ten Love Songs:

“To an extent, it was lonely – because I have always worked with a producer on my albums… But, at the same time, I think I needed to do it on my own, just to see if I could. I had a lot of very specific ideas about a lot of the songs so I didn’t really feel like I needed someone to help me with that or to collaborate on that. Having said that, I have worked with other people on some of the songs. So, for instance, Lars Horntveth, who helped me on the last two albums, produced ‘Silencer’ with me. Anthony Gonzalez [from M83] co-produced ‘Memorial’ with me and Big Black Delta did some production on ‘Accelerate’. Oh and, of course, Röyksopp – they did some production on ‘Slowly’. So it hasn’t been completely lonely.”

Ten Love Songs draws on the musical assistance both of new friends and old, (including Anthony Gonzalez of M83, Svein and Torbjorn from Röyksopp, her long-term collaborator Lars Horntveth of Jaga Jazzist, and the Trondheimsolistene Chamber Ensemble) the album was essentially recorded, orchestrated and produced by Sundfør herself, resulting in her most compelling and fully realized work to date.
