“It’s warm and fragile, starting off delicately before swelling into a wave of emotion and memory” – The Line of Best Fit
The Swedish pop duo Grapell are releasing their new stand-alone single “Snowflakes” today via Strangers Candy, following the release of their long-awaited debut album Crier earlier this month. “Snowflakes” was actually written and recorded over a year ago but has been sitting on the shelf since, before being shared now ahead of the holidays.
Grapell first introduced themselves a few years back, and have since released three acclaimed EPs while expanding and refining their sound, combining sparse indie and lovelorn soul. Their third EP, Love Chamber, was released last fall to praise from the likes of Stereogum, Noisey, Zane Lowe, GoldFlakePaint and this summer a first taste of Crier arrived in the shape of “No Longer Free” which was followed by another three singles before the release of Crier in early November on limited edition vinyl and digitally.
Grapell is also set to tour the Netherlands in January (dates below), with more live dates in Scandinavia, Germany and the UK to be announced.

Jan 31 – Amsterdam, Netherlands – Sugarfactory

Press for Grapell:

““Some Places” is a strong contender for the smoothest thing you’ll hear all year, a shimmering sax-streaked duet featuring Many Voices Speak on guest vocals” – Stereogum
“full of delicate, unabashed soul carried by rhythmic piano and covered in a coppery sheen that hits just before sundown” – My Old Kentucky Blog
“Emil Erstrand and Nils Nygårdh have twisted the component parts of their music into something entirely new” – Noisey
“pop superstars in-waiting“ – GoldFlakePaint
“Simple but sophisticated arrangements underpin romantic, soulful ballads …” – When You Motor Away
“Swedish duo Grapell are a rare breed in today’s music. They are one of the very few bands who can make the sultry sound spectacular.” – The Revue
