SWEDISH Progressive Melodic Metal Band’s ‘BEST OF A DECADE AND A HALF’
Progressive power metallers Evergrey, who have released 8 studio albums and one live cut since their inception in 1995, have confirmed the release of ‘Best Of A Decade And A Half’, their first ever ‘Best Of’ collection, on Steamhammer / SPV on January 23rd.
Best Of A Decade And A Half’, a double CD containing 24 songs, including two previously unreleased live tracks, and a 24 page special booklet with liner notes and unreleased photos, will retail at the nice price of a single CD. The previously unreleased tracks are ‘Wrong (live)’ (unplugged) and ‘Frozen (live)’ (unplugged).
All Evergrey’s albums released to date have made the Top 20 in their native Sweden, including the band’s eighth studio album, ‘Glorious Collision’, released in February 2011, which went top 10 and spawned a gold single, awarded in April 2011, for over 10,000 copies of their last single, ‘Wrong’. The band’s live DVD, ‘A Night To Remember’, was number 1 for four weeks and nominated for a grammy in Sweden.
‘Glorious Collision’, was hailed by Kerrang!’s Paul Travers as “Flawless, technically proficient metal with a highly polished sheen – another slab of pristine prog power from Swedish metal mainstays” in the magazine’s 26th February issue.
Evergrey, who have toured around the globe several times over, with the likes of In Flames, Nevermore, Throwdown, Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom and Iced Earth, among others, then toured Europe with Kamelot, in the Spring of 2011.
Record Collector’s Tim Jones reviewed their London Islington 02 Academy gig on 28/4/11 in the magazine’s July issue, stating that “Swedish power metallers Evergrey did what they do best – 45 minutes of pounding, technical, ram-it-home blasts, with riffing drums, landslip dual guitar swathes, and a maelstrom of keyboards, all propping Tom England’s fiery vocals. The quintet speed through nine mighty numbers, from ‘Leave It Behind Us’, to ‘A Touch Of Blessing’, standouts including the self-explanatory ‘Monday Morning Apocalypse’ , the concerted headbang of ‘Blinded’ and the thunderous ‘Frozen’. A tough act to follow…”
