“breathtaking track after breathtaking track” FUSE
“[River Wider] is a pretty track with a nice cello line complementing a very catchy vocal melody, completing a folk-pop sound comparable to Sufjan Stevens or Fleet Foxes.” Stereogum

Boston progressive indie-folk duo Tall Heights will release their debut major label LP,Neptune, August 19 on Sony Music Masterworks. Neptune is the follow up to 2015’s Holding On, Holding Out EP which was met with critical acclaim from outlets like NPR and Wall Street Journal. Following the lush harmonies on “River Wider” and chugging guitar on “Iron In The Fire”, the band reveals “Infrared” as Interview Magazine’sTrack Of The Week” beginning today. “Infrared” takes on a brooding tone, opening with distorted synths and enveloping listeners with warm strings and gritty indie-pop percussion.
Tim Harrington shares, “Lyrically the song stems from the fear behind the question “why are we here and what comes next?” Leading with the tones and sounds that inspires us creates a momentum of inspiration that self motivates. It’s like building a house from foundation to furnishings with an uncompromising attention to impeccable materials, so each next step in the construction process breeds a finer finished product. Good increases the good. I think this question is also hunting for specific artists who have brought us here. Two who seem to embody this attention to sound and tone are Tame Impala and James Blake.
Earning comparisons of their emotive harmonies and poignant lyrics to the likes of Sigur Ros, Fleet Foxes and Sufjan Stevens, the multi-talented singer songwriters, composers, and instrumentalists are Paul Wright on cello/vocals and Tim Harrington on acoustic guitar/vocals. They got their start busking on the streets of Boston, growing up in a neighboring town in Massachusetts. Neptune is a far lusher construct than those early acoustic days — notably the ethereal synthesizers and spacious drum part on breakout hit Spirit Cold (surpassing 6 million stream on Spotify), a brittle splash of percussion to open “Backwards and Forwards” and feedback created by two cellphones on “Cross My Mind.”
The band is on tour all Summer through Autumn, including an opening slot for José González. See full list of dates HERE. For a taste of Tall Heights’ captivating live show, watch the band’s stunning live performance of album single “Spirit Cold” below.
