Talon Majors – “Dream Weaver”

Discovering Talon Majors music is like discovering a gemstone among a pile of duds. Her glimmering and gorgeous vocals evokes instances of Mazzy Star, Six Pence None the Richer, and Lana Del Rey. Truly a work that can be best described as cinematic, Majors’s fearless intensity as an artist works its way into her artistic endeavors.

With “Dream Weaver,” we see an artist drawing from her painful and traumatic past and making something truly beautiful out of it.

“Dream Weaver” will be a part of her upcoming autobiographical EP ‘Watch Her Fall.’ It is a gruesome and heart-wrenching troubled teen industry expose that dives into a forbidden romance forged behind the walls of Casa By The Sea, a boarding school that was shut down due to abuse and fraud. The teens, who lived inside its walls, were stripped of every basic human right including clothing, grooming essentials and even speech, while being subjected to the system’s heinous military-style brainwashing tactics.

With that in mind, Majors has done something truly remarkable here. Using the negativity from her PTSD, she turns garbage into sparkling treasure. And the rewards from her hard work are laid bare for us to enjoy.

Through her vulnerable and heart-wrenching vocals, we as the listeners can sense the trauma and history behind her past. In the backdrop are guitars, synths, and percussion and they accompany her vocals, adding a certain dynamism to Major’s already charming voice. Together, these forces help shape this track and make it into the overwhelming inspirational light that it carries.

It looked like Majors has been through a lot and it is her experiences that add a maturity to her years. Her voice shines all the brighter for it. Majors has created an amazing piece of work. Her buoyancy and steady persistence to tough it out even through tough times has paid out. “Dream Weaver” is a testament to that. 7/10
