TAX THE HEAT, Bristol’s rising stars, release a new video for their critically acclaimed song “Fed To The Lions” this coming Tuesday, May 13th at 10am UK time.
An exclusive airing on Planetrock.com starts Monday May 12th at 10am UK Time.
The band, formed in 2013, were born from a pure love of straight-ahead rhythm and blues music. With nods to many of their influences, the music they create calls back to a time when rock’n’roll was still new, vibrant and exciting – combining elements of 60’s R&B, 70’s rock and contemporary song writing, all within a deep-rooted blues ethic.
Having found the ears of some of their most well respected contemporaries including Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy fame announcing Tax The Heat as his ‘Favourite New Band’ on VH1’s “That Metal Show” (USA), they also gained the interest of legendary producer Chris Goss (Masters of Reality, QOTSA, The Cult, BRMC). Upon hearing the strength of the band’s self-recorded demos, Chris immediately insisted on producing the E.P alongside engineer Tom Dalgety (Band of Skulls, Royal Blood, The Macabees). The end result; capturing the true feel and honesty of the band’s sound.
Tax The Heat’s début E.P was subsequently released in November 2013 on a limited run of 10” vinyl to coincide with a string of successful support slots including a UK Tour. The band’s music has gone on to receive airtime on UK radio at such stations as BBC Introducing and Kerrang! Radio, with their single ‘Fed To The Lions’ being added to the Planet Rock Radio A-playlist.
Having made a strong statement in 2013, 2014 looks like being Tax The Heat’s year, with prestigious slots at this year’s Download festival (2nd stage) and Clapham Common’s Calling festival (with Aerosmith). In addition the band play Camden Rocks and Wales’ Steelhouse festival and have the special guest slot on the forthcoming Black Star Riders (ex-Thin Lizzy) and the Virginmarys UK tours.
