London four piece DIY punk outfit TEAR have shared the brilliant new video for their powerful single ‘Careless Again‘; the new single from their forthcoming mini-album ‘VINYL01‘, due for release on 17th March via Tim Burgess‘ label O Genesis Recordings. Self-directed by the band at Joshua Tree National Park and Cabazon Dinosaurs in California, the video was ultimately destined for great things when a giant moth (Jed’s favourite creature) landed on Camille in the desert. TEAR signed to Tim Burgess’ label in late 2015 for the release of their first EP, and have since been busy making a name for themselves through a string of intimate shows and festival performances. The fierce and focused ‘Careless Again‘ (listen out for the Fleetwood MacThe Chain‘ influenced crescendo) is one of seven tracks to feature on the record. Lead singer Camille explains:

I wrote parts of this a long time ago. It started off as a love song and then when my brother died I finished writing it, so now it feels like it’s about that too, maybe more so. I find it intense to sing live and if anyone talks during the quiet bits I feel like I’m gonna jump off stage and kick them in the head, although mostly I just death stare them until they stop.

The mini-album contains the raw power that TEAR are renowned for across their live shows; it is a fully charged and sonically tight collection of female-fronted, lo-fi rock music that will be sure to earmark the band as ones to watch in 2017. It was recorded in two parts; one with Tim Burgess and Jim Spencer at The Charlatans’ Big Mushroom studio in Cheshire, and the other at Bark Studios with Victoria Freund (Cajun Dance Party). On writing the songs, she says:

They’re sort of about trying to wish someone out of a coma and will them back to life. Within that though, they’re also written about the trauma of break ups and I’m perpetually preoccupied with this idea of waiting for something to happen and getting what you want.”
