“To capture the song’s sense of nostalgia and impermanence the band will be releasing the ‘Boy’ single on Instax instant photographs mounted on TELLISON postcards with a link to a free download. Every photograph and thus every version of the single will be unique and unrepeatable. The band took these photos over a couple of months from their recent headline tour of the UK right up to shooting the video for “Boy” at the Tooting Tram & Social one night in May 2015. Having just released a single on a cassette tape they thought what better dead format to graduate to than the instant photograph. In the age of Instagram and casually dangled DSLRs what could be more gauche, more awkward, more TELLISON than the one chance saloon of an instant camera’s roulette. Limited to just 100 photos/postcards distributed for free online and in a very few hand-chosen independent record shops, get one now before they become the stuff of legend.
From guitarist and ‘Boy’ vocalist/song writer Peter: “The main theme is evidently thinking about the things you did when you were younger – what meant the most to you, how important those things felt – and how you feel about those in retrospect. In this case, I looked at a relationship that busted me good. I’m sure you guys will have had the same experience – where you’re pretty sure you’re like “this is it” and it turns out that it definitely wasn’t it. Those things affect you for sure; so the question I asked myself when writing this was how relevant that should still be to my life now?”
