THE BAPTIST GENERALS SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR ‘DOG THAT BIT YOU’

A few weeks ago we shared a video for the song ‘Fly Candy Harvest’, a film directed by The Baptist Generals’ own Jason Reimer. Today, there’s a new one in the shape of ‘Dog that Bit You’, also directed by Reimer and you can watch this surealistic flimic triumph of man vs. wild by clicking below:

The new album ‘Jackleg Devotional To The Heart’ was released yesterday on Sub Pop. If you like your folk music haunting, claustrophobic and a little rough around the edges, this ones for you. There are definitely shades of Isaac Brock and Jeff Mangum in there, and it was produced by Riemer and Grammy-winning engineer Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Cat Power) at The Cigar Box and Elmwood Studios in Oak Cliff, Texas. It’s the long-awaited follow-up to the band’s 2003 debut full-length ‘No Silver / No Gold’.

The Baptist Generals will start a 25 date long tour with The Mountain Ghosts in the US, shortly. In a recent blog post about this tour, Mountain Goats prime mover John Darnielle had this to say about the group: We’re bringing out the Baptist Generals, one of our favorite bands, who have a new album coming out — their first in years — and for Peter and I this is a huge event, like on an “unheard post-Marquee Moon pre-Adventure Television album discovered” level: some bands you know will someday get the acclaim that’s due them and this is one of them. Their new album is so deeply moving I’m not even going to get into it right now, here, try this, see what I mean… (see Mountain Goats blog post April 9th).
