The Bastard Sons – Smoke (Out 7th August 2015 via Kaiju Records)

Smoke is the debut album to be released by York based riff machine The Bastard Sons. Twelve tracks that can be only described as party rock in the same genre as Every time I Die and Cancer Bats.

In recent year heavy music all seems to be about the beat down and seeing if a band can be heavier than they or their competitors have been before or who can create the breakdown to piss over all breakdowns that have come before but bands forget

that all music is about enjoyment. Something that The Bastard Sons seem to have not forgotten about or neglected at all.

Songs that are full of energy and balls whilst reeking of attitude is exactly what I want to hear. Taking influence from punk, metal, hardcore, classic rock and even pop in how catchy the choruses are The Bastard Sons are making music that deserves to be heard by the masses. 8/10
