“’Junior Dragon’ displays plenty of snap and venom, with The LaFontaines surging with boisterous energy. Rippling with promise” – Clash Magazine
Fresh from a 16 date tour to promote their debut album ‘Class’, The LaFontaines have returned to Scotland as heroes in the world of independent music. The self-funded, unsigned band entered the Top 100 of the UK album charts this week – no mean feat for an act without major label backing. ‘Class’ also charted in the indie breakers chart at #1, plus entered the Scottish album chart at #10.

One of the most energetic tracks on the album, ‘Junior Dragon’ is a song written for crazy nights out. Said The LaFontaines front man Kerr Okan:
“The initial idea for this song had been lying around longer than any other. It originally wasn’t going to make the record. We had been trying to make it work for over 3 years. Every now and then we’d jump back into it and try arranging it a little differently, but nothing stuck. The very last night before we left to go record in Woking with Matty, we had a practice, and Jamie made reference to a recurring joke we had about writing a drinking song. The joke stems back to when we had American management for 6 months and their ludicrous suggestions. Anyway for some reason after that comment was made we just looked at the song completely different. The music seemed like the perfect soundtrack to a wild night out. Suddenly it all just clicked. We re worked the intro and verses and there we had it. Lyrically the concept was already there. We wanted a drinking song and we’ve certainly had plenty of those, so there was plenty of experiences to pull from. The tittle comes from our early days sponsored by Dragon Soop – hence Junior Dragon”.
Produced by Matt O’Grady (You Me At Six/Don Broco), ‘Class’ looks set to provide the boost into the mainstream that the Font boys have been building towards, and follows on from a phenomenal year in 2014. Starting with their debut single release (‘All She Knows’) via LAB Records, the band played their first headline shows in New York in April, supported All Time Low in Glasgow (2500 capacity) and released their second single, ‘Under The Storm’: to widespread airplay (Radio 1, Kerrang!, XFM Scotland, TeamRock Radio plus a plethora of UK Regional Stations) and UK wide press coverage. The year culminated in their biggest headline sold out show to date at Glasgow’s ABC in October (1300 capacity) as well as a tour of the UK and Europe with Watsky.
‘Class’ is already receiving rave reviews across the board with Kerrang! Magazine awarding the record 4 K’s and their latest London headline show drawing rave reviews from the likes of ‘Noise Cannon’ and ‘Bring The Noise’ and cementing the five piece’s reputation as ‘the best live band in Scotland’. ‘Class’ is available on iTunes, Amazon and Music Glue as well as selected other retailers.
