After the two LP (“The Maniacs” – 2009 and “Cattive Madri” – 2012) produced by Olly Riva (Shandon, The Fire, Rezophonic) and two self-produced EP (“Maniac Mansion” – 2008 and “Material” – 2010) the power trio from Milan has entrusted the artistic production of the disc to their friend Massimo Guasconi a jazz producer.
The songs, recorded in the studio Jam Session in Milan suburb, were composed entirely by the three, with their background made of distortion and impetuousness, were confronted with the peculiarities of an academic jazz producer.
On the Italian scene since 2001 in different formations and after the release of their eponymous first lucky LP in 2009, on the european scene, The Maniacs have felt the need to pull off the plug for a bit and look back to see what was the best option for the future of the group. In this moment of reflection, the collective Against ’em all records has strengthened, publishing the works of Larry Manteca (afrobeat / funk / jazzrock) and The Spezials (garagerock / postpunk).
During this break from the stage did not stop the composition of the songs, which led to the registration of more than 100 minutes of nightly sessions and experiments with other musician friends. Hence the need to enter the studio, led by two clear ideas: do not be limited to the classic colors of the power trio and return to singing in English, allowing three of the best dive in search of the right sound, to be given to the twelve tracks that make up the new work “Die Option”.
