NEW DOUBLE ALBUM ‘FANDANGO’ – RELEASED IN THE UK ON 29TH APRIL ON MEMPHIS INDUSTRIES

ARTWORK AND TRACKLISTING REVEALED THE BAND TOUR THE UK TOUR IN MAY

The band will be touring the UK in May (dates below) and have made album highlight ‘The Captain’ available for free download from their site at www.thephoenixfoundation.co.nz/fandango. Please use the attached widget code to embed this in any news stories.

The band, who had a critical and commercial hit with 2011’s album ‘Buffalo’ (and which preceded them playing Glastonbury and performing on Later with Jools Holland), have returned with an expansive, bold and gloriously rich statement on ‘Fandango’. The album, an uncompromising 78 minutes, sees the band explore a range of moods and musical threads from the glowering motorik opener of ‘Black Mould’, the slick yacht rock of ‘Sideways Glanc’e and end-of-the-party psyche-folk of ‘Modern Rock’.
The Wellington based six piece’s first cut from the album is ‘The Captain’, a 3 minute ballad of melancholic melodic joy featuring the vocal talents of Lukasz Buda, one of the band’s two front men.
Samuel Flynn Scott, the other front man, says of the album:

’CAPTAIN’ AVAILABLE AS A FREE DOWNLOAD / STREAM;

‘Damn the zeitgeist, I still rejoice in the pan-sexual opulence of a double gate-fold vinyl album. Honestly I’m thoroughly satisfied that we have made 80 minutes of tripped out pop oddities that pays absolutely no attention to the short form game of contemporary music. This is Test Match music, maybe it’s prog or pysche-folk, whatever it is it’s music that we thought about a lot, worked on a lot and care about in the minutia.’
The Phoenix Foundation are lead vocalists/guitarists Samuel Flynn Scott and Lukasz Buda, Conrad Wedde (guitars, keys), Tom Callwood (bass guitar, vocals), Chris O’Connor (drums) and Will Ricketts (percussion, keyboards).
