Introducing ‘Music To Read Cognitive Dissident By’, a new Spotify playlist series to accompany the book.

Each chapter is paired with a playlist reflecting the songs, artists, times and themes within it.

For ‘Chapter One: Roots Lie Deeper Than Bones’ Matt has included some of the legendary artists promoted by his uncle Kenny in the late 1950s and through the 1960s, partly coinciding with the time his family was living above one of East London’s most famous music houses, the Two Puddings pub in Stratford. He has also included some of the artists and songs he listened to during the early to mid 1970s and which influenced him and his teenage bandmates in his first group, Road Star.

To accompany ‘Chapter Two: The Desire Of The Moth For The Star’, Matt has selected some of the influential artists / recordings he was listening to, or discovered, or was turned on to, during the late 1970s whilst working at De Wolfe Music in London’s Soho district and attending post punk / underground gigs in the capital after work. The inspiration leading to him forming THE THE in 1979.
