The Velveteen Saints set for UK dates
Ignoring innumerable potential distractions, Glasgow’s most exciting guitar group focus on music’s two most powerful totems. So that’s loud rhythms, and emotional engagement.
Which isn’t to say The Velveteen Saints craft songs that pander to simplistic definitions. It’s rock ‘n’ roll, even if one of their tracks claims the genre is dead, but realistically that reference is redundant without a word like garage, punk, post, or alternative in the same sentence.
The four piece have built an enviable following in arguably Britain’s second musical city, moving from DIY shows for 80 or so attendees to selling out arguably Britain’s finest small venue; the legendary King Tut’s. Meanwhile, support slots for Mick Jones, Tim Burgess, and Peter Hook have also helped the cause, of course.
And the talking points don’t end there, either. Add to all that forthcoming dates at the Glasgow 02 ABC, along with Kendal Calling and T In The Park, not to mention ongoing UK gigs including Delamere Forest with The View and The Charlatans- and clearly The Velveteen Saints rank as ones to watch by anyone’s standards. Deservedly so too, with their no-nonsense approach to musicianship exactly what the ears have been asking for.
