THE VRYLL SOCIETY ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF THEIR NEW EP PANGEA

EP Art

Deltasonic’s newest signing The Vryll Society continue to mesmerise and enthrall with their wonderful groove-laden sound. Having built up a strong fanbase following the release of their last single ‘Deep Blue Skies’ and subsequent UK tour, the quintet have earned glowing reviews for their festival appearances this summer, and these latest offerings take the audience further into their world of liquid jams and wonderfully crafted songwriting.

The visionary founder of Deltasonic (The Coral, The Zutons, The Dead 60s) the late Alan Wills, discovered and worked closely with The Vryll Society. He noticed potential in the “space rock sorcerers” straight away and guided them through their initial development to the wonderful ethereal mix which they have achieved with these songs.

Ann Heston, label manager of Deltasonic and manager of The Vryll Society, said:“Deltasonic continues with the same philosophy as Alan started with, making and releasing music that we all love with new young artists. The Vryll Society are a band who want to push boundaries and share their wonderful music with as many people as possible and are astounding their live audiences wherever they go”.

The Liverpool band’s debut EP Pangea (derived from ancient Greek for whole of the earth) showcases Mike Ellis’ ethereal vocals and occupying territory from Neu and Air to early Verve and Stone Roses. They undoubtedly deliver a unique blend of styles which they are making their own.

The EP starts with ‘Coshh’ – a melodic Kraut-rock juggernaut, lodged in lyrical realism and a howling lead line that stretches the senses.

Followed by next track‘Air’ – think funk meets electronica, in this tribal beat driven collage of sound.

Next up is ‘Metropolis’ – inspired by the 1920’s silent classic ‘Metropolis’ using hip hop drums, gypsy guitar lines, medieval Gregorian vocals and bombastic solos to create something truly unique.

Finally ‘The Egg’ – creates a feeling of isolation, using World War 2 style SOS sounds under a richly satisfying chord progression, leading into a jam that continues to rise and rise.
