Red Rum Club get the nod from This Is England star Thomas Turgoose ahead of US and UK Tours in must-see video for latest single:

VANILLA

Irresistible, sing-along single arrives days before the Liverpool band’s second US takeover inside a year
Bid for transatlantic glory followed by extensive 13-date UK & Ireland Tour ending with two SOLD OUT dates at Liverpool’s Eventim Olympia
Liverpool’s heavyweight festival crowd-pleasers, Red Rum Club enlist the deadpan delivery of actor, Thomas Turgoose in a self-deprecating celebration of their newest single, Vanilla, their first new music since the release of their 2021 hit album, How To Steal The World. Swiping at keyboard warriors and self-anointed gatekeepers, the This Is England star steps into the frame as an impossible-to-please bedroom music critic ready to bring the high-flying six-piece down to Earth on the eve of their latest US, UK and Ireland tours.

Having hit US shores earlier this year to visit SXSW and enjoy a run of nationwide dates in support of The Lathums, the smooth storytellers with effortlessly danceable tunes make a bold bid to win new Stateside friends, while basking in the support of those already on board. Confirming a total of 14 US dates, taking in their first headline shows in New York City, Washington D.C and Los Angeles, Vanilla is released as an effortlessly catchy springboard for the band’s growing intercontinental ambitions.

A further 13, UK and Ireland dates follow almost immediately on their return to home shores, including dates at Manchester’s O2 Ritz, London’s The Garage and two, huge homecoming nights at Liverpool’s landmark, 2,000-capacity Eventim Olympia venue with numerous dates sold out or with low ticket warnings. Having enjoyed a summer of sporadic festival appearances and a springtime tour in support of Miles Kane, the Pied Piper-pull is in full effect as Red Rum Club lead swelling hordes of ready-to-party music fans into yet bigger venues.

Vanilla finds Red Rum Club reuniting with long-time, trusted producer, Chris Taylor (Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds, Blossoms, Miles Kane) at Elevator Studios in their home city, returning to the studio for the first time this year to put down this and a second new track which remains closely under wraps. Evoking the band’s heavier alternative songwriting interests, Vanilla’s stomp flicks to the likes of The White Stripes in the band’s record collections, while the tight lyrical intent once again recalls the band’s greatest, shared influence: The Arctic Monkeys.

Of the single, famed trumpet player, Joe ‘The Blow’ Corby, says: “We based all of Vanilla off the irony of having such a bland flavour with such an exciting beat. It’s got that kind of feeling of trying to make sure you’re not a bland guy, trying to stay a bit exciting, but it’s ultimately not to be taken too seriously.”

Barely off the plane, luggage in hand and with their trademark spring in their step, Red Rum Club’s full run of confirmed Winter 2022 UK and Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:

Thomas Turgoose goes heavy on VANILLA by Red Rum Club
Formed of Fran Doran (vocals), Tom Williams (lead guitar), Michael McDermott (rhythm guitar), Simon Hepworth (bass), Neil Lawson (drums) and Corby, Red Rum Club have made determined strides towards their own, distinct musical territory over the past three years in the public eye. Garnering cult-status with their Mariachi-on-the-Mersey sound on debut album, Matador (2019), the feted live act felt the force of the 2020 lockdown with acute severity, responding positively to release their second album, The Hollow Of Humdrum, containing their breakthrough, radio hit single, Eleanor. 2021’s studied follow-up, How To Steal The World, brought the band their first Official Album Chart Top 40 position and launched the band onto stages they’d only previously seen their own heroes tread.
