THURSTON MOORE NEW SINGLE – ‘DETONATION’ PART OF BLANK EDITIONS PRESENTS – THE SOLO SERIES
RELEASED ON BLANK EDITIONS – 7TH FEBRUARY 2014
LONDON LAUNCH PARTY – 7TH FEBRUARY 2014
Blank Editions continue their Solo Series of limited edition seven inch releases with a new single from Thurston Moore, founding member of Sonic Youth, Chelsea Light Moving and, most recently (and locally!) Thurston Moore UK in February 2014.
The new single sees the ever prolific songwriter deliver two new original compositions, ‘Detonation’, which pays homage to N16 London libertarian and communitarian activists, while the flipside features ‘Germs Burn’, a celebration shout to punk rock secret society love.
Recorded and mixed by Orlando Leopard with assistance by Charlie Nash on the 24th October 2013 in London, this limited and numbered edition of 500 seven inch record contains art direction and design by Ecstatic Peace Library.
To celebrate the release their will be a special launch party in London on the 7th of February, more details to follow.
Set up and established by artist and video director David Blanco and author and publisher Will Shutes, Blank Editions aims to release an output of lathe cut and vinyl records, compilations and publications documenting a small and thriving undercurrent. A component of Blank Editions, The Solo Series will be a batch of collectable seven inch records with handmade sleeves and inserts released throughout the next couple of years featuring solo offshoots from some of their favourite musicians and artists.
The Thurston Moore record is the fifth release in the Solo Series and follows the recent record from Blurt founder Ted Milton in November 2013. The first release was ‘Ducks’ by Charles Boyer which was closely followed by the Joseph Coward single ‘Children’s Bones’ and then ‘X Film Plus Ultra’ by The Jesus and Mary Chain and award winning music video and film director Douglas Hart.
