“With comforting, nostalgic pop punk elements driving the song forward, Collins sings of her real-life BFF June, someone Collins considers ‘to be more like my sister than a best friend.’” – NYLON

“Thoughtful songwriters mining the sorrows of pop, particularly the thematic and sonic tumult of Fleetwood Mac.” – NPR

As the August 18th release date of their new album ‘spin’ approaches, indie-rock duo TIGERS JAW have announced details of a UK tour that same month. The tour includes a London show at The Garage on August 20th and culminates with sets at the Reading and Leeds Festival. TIGERS JAW will play the following shows:

18th – Southampton, The Joiners

19th – Brighton, The Haunt

20th – London, The Garage

22nd – Glasgow, Stereo

23rd – Manchester, Deaf Institute

24th – Cardiff, The Globe

25th – Reading Festival

26th – Leeds Festival

Tickets go on general sale from 10am on Friday May 26th.

‘spin’ represents the first release from Black Cement Records, a new imprint under Warner Music in the UK and Atlantic Records in the States. The label’s A&R is headed by its ambassador Will Yip who has produced albums for artists including Citizen, Code Orange and Title Fight.

The album was recorded with TIGERS JAW’s long-term collaborator Will Yip at Studio 4 in Pennsylvania. The album represents the first collection of songs that was completely written and recorded solely by the duo (Ben Walsh and Brianna Collins), and also the first time they had a full month in the studio without having to worry about outside responsibilities.

From the sweetly syncopated, fuzzed-out bliss of the opener ‘Follows’ to the mid-tempo melodicism of ‘June’ and liltingly lovely ballad ‘Bullet’, ‘spin’ sees TIGERS JAW stretching out sonically. Lyrically, Walsh also tried something new by experimenting with stream-of-consciousness writing to express his ideas in an unfiltered fashion. The album sees Collins taking a shine to writing duties whether she’s writing a love song like ‘Same Stone’ or getting introspective on the dreamy ‘Brass Ring’.

Album pre-orders are now open at iTunes for digital and from the band’s store for CD, limited edition blue vinyl and merch bundles. All pre-orders receive instant downloads of ‘Guardian’ and ‘June’.
