‘Whatever Works’

Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Jesse Fultone has had a lifelong love of music. Having played in numerous bands over the years (Flux Capacitor, Bobby Blackbird and the Bluejays, The Maples) and supported acts as varied as Sharon Jones, The Black Keys, Jamiroquai and Ugly Duckling, Jesse now produces and performs under the nameTin Lion.

Influenced by acts such as Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, The Meters and Princeamongst, basically, anything with a good beat, Tin Lion’s music is a swirling mix of big drums, spacey synths, heavy bass and percussive guitar. Music as much for your head as for your feet.

Tin Lion has been described as ‘a sprawling exploration into the ways which rock and electronic can combine in a cohesive and mesmerizing manner’ by Undertow Magazine and ‘truly the reincarnation of the late LCD Soundsystem’ by Melissa Scheinberg of Unrecorded and has dominated the JJJ Unearthed charts and gained rotation with singles ‘Best Pants’ and ’No Clothes’.

Having supported Lorde, Oliver Tank, Harts and The Aston Shuffle off the back of debut ‘From Space With Love’, Tin Lion is now preparing to release a five track EP entitled ‘Secrets’, featuring the single ‘Whatever Works’.

Recorded and produced in his home studio in Collingwood Vic and mixed and mastered by an anonymous superstar engineer in Perth, ‘Whatever Works’ is a stomping live, dance rock jam reminiscent of Prince or even EMF(!). Anchored around a huge bass groove and nimble percussion, ‘Whatever Works’ has plenty of Tin Lion’s signature juicy synth bleeps and bloops and, a big sing-along chorus. Lyrically, It’s about a girl, it’s about ALL girls.

On top of a new single and record, Jesse has just launched the new, all live four-pieceTin Lion live show. Drums, bass, guitar and full time percussion twist up and recreate the Tin Lion sound in a distinctly ‘dance punk’ way. Paradoxically loose and funky, whilst still being tight as a drum.

“A sprawling exploration into the various ways through which rock and electronic can combine. Mesmerizing” Undertow Magazine September 25th, 2012

An east coast tour is planned later in the year.

“Whatever Works” by TIN LION will be released 7th August 2015
