Tony Njoku announces a new EP, A WORLD OF BODIES ON FIRE, arriving 12 June via PRAH Recordings. The project opens with ‘A WORLD OF BODIES ON FIRE’, from which the EP takes its name. Released today (15 April), it offers a first glimpse into a work that continues his exploration and transformation, pushing further into the physical and emotional edges of sound.
Following the critically acclaimed ALL OUR KNIVES ARE ALWAYS SHARP, Njoku returns with a collection of instrumental tracks that feel both distilled and expansive, with electronic abstraction and cinematic composition at its core. If his previous work cut through questions of spiritual survival and cultural resistance, A WORLD OF BODIES ON FIRE turns inward, tracing the shifting boundaries between body, self and environment.
“This EP was made on the back of some pent up rage and sadness I needed to let go of. After burnout and disappointments I needed to scream, cry, laugh and move. I needed to get a lot off my chest, and thought the best way to do that was through my synths and piano. This project is a collection of raging exhalations, quiet revelations, subtle smirks of humility, meandering through emotional temperatures, laments and meditations. The objective was to splurge on feelings and to move through the fire that was building up inside.”
The EP’s title reflects multiple states of intensity, from destruction and overwhelm to urgency, passion and renewal. Across the record, Njoku channels these extremes into sound as he moves between rupture and stillness, euphoria and restraint.
Alongside the release, Njoku continues his Conjuring residency at Club Cheek, an ongoing live improvisation series rooted in collaboration and spontaneity. Bringing together a fluid network of artists across London’s experimental scene, the series reflects a key thread of Njoku’s practice, building spaces for collective expression that challenge and expand the boundaries of contemporary music. The next event takes place on 7 May with Nkisi, Cameron Picton, Loraine James and Valentina Magaletti.
