OFF FORTHCOMING EP
“Another perfect example of MICKY’s penchant for making vintage sounds feel fresh and modern. With smooth horns, soulful falsetto vocals and funky synths, ‘He Won’t’ is easily your perfect top-down driving tune.” THE DELI MAGAZINE
(NEW YORK, NEW YORK) – MICKY, the retro-pop/rock/soul artist hailing from New York City, releases the second single off of his forthcoming EP titled “He Won’t”. The track was produced by Mike Irish at Shifted Recording.
“He Won’t” is the follow up to MICKY’s rhythmic track released last month titled, “Sophisticated” (produced by Mike Irish). MICKY is nothing if not a fantastically sophisticated artist and performer, who sounds like a cross between Bruno Mars, The Black Keys and Leon Bridges. MICKY’s debut stand-alone single released early 2017, “Candid” has over 732K plays on Spotify.
MICKY says: “He Wont,” is a cheeky response to an old flame doubting my level of commitment. The song revolves around me pleading my case, mostly through hyperbolic statements.”
MICKY is the moniker of Michael Persall, whose 2015 release, “Waiting For” was heralded by Clash Magazine, Going Solo, Vinyl Noise and others. Additionally, in 2015, MICKY played over 400 concerts, highlighted by his performances at legendary venues like Mercury Lounge and Webster Hall. Evident in his music, MICKY has been heavily influenced by James Brown, Otis Redding, Jim Morrison, Robert Plant and The Beach Boys.
“Not only does he have a look that reminds us of BORNS but he has that special charisma and level of potential to captivate the world.”
– Wolf in a Suit

“When you listen to a Michael Persall song, it is as if you’ve stepped back in time to the golden days when the Beach Boys and Elvis Presley ruled the airwaves.” – Pop Dust
