Even for a band that live their lives out on the road, it has been a busy few weeks for Twin Peaks. The young Chicago outfit have announced details of their third studio album, released its first single ‘Walk To The One You Love’ to widespread acclaim, and kicked off a huge global tour whilst tearing up their spots at this year’s SXSW.

The band unveil the second offering from their third album, ‘Butterfly’. It’s a more raucous display than the groove-fronted ‘Walk to The One You Love’, shining a torch on Clay Frankel’s powerful garage twang and keeping close to this new melody-rich, energy-heavy sound of theirs. The album itself was made by a murky lake in Western Massachusetts, where they could experiment and record on their own terms in the warm living room of a good friend’s house. It was recorded on reel-to-reel with the band learning studio tricks on the fly. ‘Down in Heaven’ also features songs written by four of the five band members.

Clay Frankel said of the track; “This song was written in Texas last year, when I was in a sickened state after playing twelve or so shows in five days. So the lyrics are a mixture of negativity and exhilaration. Exhilaration because I was doing what I most loved to do, and negativity because it was really taking a toll on my mind and body. Death was on the mind. Also sex. Also The Zombies (there were posters of them everywhere). So I took the gentle and fleeting image of a butterfly and a simple group of chords and lots of yelling to make a sort of doomy dance song that quite honestly could be summed up as “let’s have sex because we’re all going to die.”

The band are also pleased to announce a second London date to their now sold out show at The Barfly. The free entry gig (in association with Vice) is at The Old Blue Last on the 18th April. See below for tickets and further details. As well as this, the band will perform at Rough Trade East on 20th April, where fans will be able to pre-order the album and receive a bonus 7” Vinyl. See links below for more details.
