Universal Music acquires 30% stake in India’s Excel Entertainment, valuing Bollywood production house at $267m
We’re only five days into 2026, and Universal Music Group has already made a significant investment in a key global music market.
Universal Music India confirmed the deal on Monday (January 5), saying the strategic partnership would give UMG worldwide distribution rights for all future original soundtracks created for projects owned or controlled by Excel.
