An idea to set up a label came to Jennifer Cardini after suffering regular bouts of insomnia, good move insomnia! Correspondant, also the name of her Paris based club night have been dropping some outrageously good techno and house since its inception just over a year ago.

This debut compilation shows off the scope and quality of their output so far; moody synthtronica comes courtesy of Jimi After, sinister lo-tempo beats from Darabi and post 3am bass wobblers by Pulp Disco and the storming Daniel Avery & Deadstock 33s all ensure the beats remain dance floor friendly but also intricate and detailed enough to make for intelligent home listening.

French electroclash legend The Hacker piles in with ‘Enter 1’, a deep propulsive beat with Moroder influenced arppegiated riffs and a synth line so dark it could have come from Joy Division’s ‘Closer’ album. Daniel Maloso alongside Philipp Gorbachev fuse chugging 70s rock drums and guitars with a backbeat of Mediterranean techno and the nagging clicks of clocks for a dance floor thriller and Rework breaks the mid-tempo pace nicely with an urgent electro jacker which would sit just as easily on the Boys Noize label.

If this is the taste of things to come, Cardini and co have more than got the E and IDM thing nicely covered. 8/10
