The Veils – The Tide That Left And Never Came Back Again (Rough Trade)

Shake-yer-maracas good old indie melodies rule The Veils’ world, that’s for sure. Veering between Brian Molko-ish yelping and Morrissey crooning makes for strangely schizophrenic – but not unlikeable – listening. It’s lean, tight, melody full of textbook indie guitar squiggles and soaring choruses. They’re just that little bit more imaginative and thoughtful enough to make them shine out above the usual grunting filth.

Certainly ones to keep a beady eye out on. 7.7/10
