Latest album ‘Images du Futur’ out now on Secretly Canadian

Suuns’ latest album ‘Images du Futur’ has been getting attention from new exciting sources. Their epic track ‘2020’ soundtracks the new European trailer for ‘Only God Forgives’, from the director of ‘Drive’, Nicolas Winding Refn. The movie stars Ryan Gosling and Kristin Scott Thomas and is set in the glittering city of Bangkok. The foreboding track with its pulsating bass and a sly sidewinding guitar riff add live wire tension to the trailer.

Suuns also filmed an epic live session for La Blogothèque at Paris’ historic Grand Palais when they were last in Paris. The band executes a magnetic performance of ‘Powers of Ten’ on the steps of this famous French museum and exhibition hall. You can catch that same intensity live on the band’s current tour of the EU, which takes in an appearance at La Route Du Rock in mid-August amongst others. A full list of their worldwide dates is below.

“Each track oozes pulsing drug-rock that always hits the sweet spot” Uncut

“The gentle psychedelia of Suuns is perfectly suited to the placid, unsettling visions that vocalist Ben Shemie is singing about here.” – Pitchfork

“Images Du Futur is exciting in a way that few albums manage to be, dangerous and compelling like a first cigarette or fumbled sexual encounter” The Line of Best Fit

“Suuns is clearly still making music that grabs your insides first and then engages your brain after, just on this one effort, they are doing it in a gentler, more restrained way—like the stroke of a lion’s paw before it unfurls its claws and tears your heart out.” Noisey

“The tracks on Suuns’ second album, ‘Images du Futur’ … wander through eras and possibilities: the scrabbling retuned guitars of Sonic Youth, the sustained meditations of psychedelia, the repeating synthesizer tones of early electro, the steady ticking of Krautrock, the 4/4 thump of disco (though with a guitar skidding discordantly downward).” NY Times
