About Be My Weapon
Be My Weapon’s album ¡¡Greasy!! is scheduled for release on 28 April 2014
on Mollusc Records. It Licensed for European release in all physical formats, including180gm coloured vinyl!
David Freel is the artist behind this project, a name many will remember from the Californian, acoustic, slacker-rock band, Swell – More info about Swell can be found here, but you can take it from WithGuitars, Swell were something really good.
¡¡Greasy!! is Be My Weapon’s first release for Mollusc, but it is the second album David has created under the name;
the first was called “march/2009”, released (obviously) in March 2009.
Although ¡¡Greasy!! has some of trademark acoustic strum that runs through most of David’s albums, there is a more openly menacing and subversive tone to this latest piece of work. Industrial elements and synth noises work against the acoustic guitar to create a really strange psychedelic landscape – It’s the contrast of the beautiful being right up against the ugly that makes this album so compelling…
¡¡Greasy!! will be available on CD, download and 180gm multicoloured vinyl formats.

About Mollusc Records
Mollusc Records is a one-man label established in 2011, based in Hull and with its own all-analogue-to-tape recording studio.
Without Bowie, Velvet Underground and Lee Hazlewood of the vintage mob, and Sparklehorse, Mercury Rev, Eels and Swell of the latter generations, I doubt this label would exist. Hence the excitement about this release.
