SELF-TITLED ALBUM OUT OCTOBER 6TH ON PARADISE OF BACHELORS

The music is similarly sweeping, kicking up dust with a steady acoustic guitar riff that Lindeman mirrors with her stoic delivery. . . As things move faster, she suggests that these subtle, shared moments are how we mark time. Few songwriters capture them with such fluidity.” — Pitchfork

The Weather Station, Toronto’s Tamara Lindeman, will release her self-titled and fourth album on October 6th via Paradise of Bachelors. After sharing lead single, “Thirty,” “a song about joy at the precipice of despair,” Lindeman now presents the songs accompanying self-directed video. As told to FADER, Lindeman says “I’ve always been curious what would happen if you presented a simple performance video, but instead of the usual enthusiastic audience and indomitable performer, you presented a disinterested or even hostile audience and a vulnerable performer.”

With The Weather Station, Lindeman reinvents her songcraft with a vital new energy, framing her prose-poem narratives in bolder musical settings. It’s an emotionally candid statement – a work of urgency, generosity and joy – that feels like a collection of obliquely gut-punching short stories. It declares its understated feminist politics and new sonic directions from its first moments. There are big, buzzing guitars, thrusting drums, horror-movie strings and her keening, Appalachian-tinged vocal melodies. Reaching towards a sort of accelerated talking blues, she sings with a new rapid-fire vocal style.

The Weather Station will tour Europe this fall. All dates around the world are below and tickets are available at www.theweatherstation.net.
